To calculate the provider usage of infrastructure managed by Syself, the platform uses the structured CSV file linked in Hetzner's monthly invoice. This file contains the data that determines which resources fall under Syself's management, in both Hetzner Cloud and Hetzner Bare Metal (Robot). Syself processes this data automatically and keeps only the resources that belong to your Syself-managed clusters. There is no need for manual filtering or forwarding. ## Hetzner Cloud For Hetzner Cloud, Syself filters out all projects not connected to the platform. You can connect one Hetzner Cloud project at a time, and all servers and services within that project are considered part of the same managed infrastructure. Therefore, it is critical that the project contains only infrastructure managed by the platform. ## Hetzner Robot (Bare Metal) Hetzner Robot does not offer multi-tenancy or project-based separation. You are responsible for managing these servers if you want to include some of them in Kubernetes clusters and exclude others. Syself always knows which ones you use, because the data resides in the platform. ## Standard Process The simplest and most reliable setup, used by all current customers, is to add Syself's email address as a billing contact in your Hetzner account. Hetzner then sends Syself the monthly invoice email, including the CSV. This allows Syself to retrieve the required data securely and automatically. For instructions, see [Automate Hetzner invoice sending](/docs/hetzner/apalla/platform/billing/automate-the-invoice). ## Process When Separate Accounts Are Needed In cases where further separation is required, for example if you have existing infrastructure that you want to keep maintaining independently of the platform, use different Hetzner accounts. You then receive separate invoices and send Syself only the ones related to the platform. Each client's usage stays on its own invoice.
