Preserving source IP address

Introduction#

This guide explains how to preserve the client's source IP address for requests going to your cluster.

This is useful when you want to allow requests only from a defined IP range, or track client IPs for analytics.

Preserving Client's Source IP Address#

On your Service of type LoadBalancer, add the uses-proxyprotocol annotation:

		$ kubectl annotate service my-service load-balancer.hetzner.cloud/uses-proxyprotocol="true"
