Syself automates of the entire lifecycle of clusters, freeing up your teams to work on what really matters.
“
At Syself, we don’t just use open-source technology—we actively shape it. Becoming a member of OSBA aligns perfectly with our mission to drive open, secure, and sovereign cloud solutions. From our foundational work on the Sovereign Cloud Stack to our leadership in Cluster API development, we are committed to advancing open cloud-native technologies. By joining OSBA, we look forward to collaborating with industry leaders to build a stronger, independent European cloud infrastructure.
Syself has played a key role in strengthening Europe’s digital sovereignty through open-source cloud initiatives, particularly in the development of Kubernetes lifecycle automation and Cluster API adoption.
The company was awarded a public tender by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) to build a Kubernetes-as-a-Service (KaaS) platform as part of the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS) initiative. This BMWK-funded project aims to establish a truly open and sovereign cloud infrastructure for European enterprises and public institutions, reducing reliance on non-European cloud providers while ensuring scalability, security, and long-term sustainability.
A major aspect of Syself’s contribution to SCS has been ensuring high reliability in Kubernetes operations. By integrating automated testing, security hardening, and lifecycle management, Syself has helped create an environment where organizations can deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters with confidence and full control.
Syself has also been a key participant in the GXFS/XFSC project (Gaia-X Federation Services Cloud), which builds on the foundation of the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS) to create a federated and interoperable European cloud ecosystem.
As part of this initiative, Syself played a crucial role in enabling microservice deployments on Kubernetes, ensuring that development teams have a standardized and reliable environment to build cloud-native applications in a sovereign and secure infrastructure.
By aligning with both Gaia-X and SCS, Syself is helping drive the adoption of open standards and Kubernetes-native automation, reinforcing Europe’s commitment to digital sovereignty and cloud independence.
Syself has long been at the forefront of Cluster API (CAPI) adoption, particularly with its development and leadership of Cluster API Provider for Hetzner (CAPH).
As one of the most widely used Cluster API providers, CAPH has played a critical role in enabling declarative, automated Kubernetes cluster management across European cloud providers like Hetzner.
By leveraging Cluster API, organizations gain a software-defined approach to managing Kubernetes infrastructure, avoiding the challenges of traditional manual provisioning. Unlike tools like Terraform or Ansible, which require explicit execution, CAPH continuously reconciles the desired cluster state, ensuring that infrastructure is always in sync without manual intervention.
Through initiatives like Cluster API and CAPH, Syself has contributed significantly to standardizing and simplifying Kubernetes management across European cloud providers, ensuring greater resilience, flexibility, and long-term sustainability for businesses and public institutions.
The Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA) brings together businesses, developers, and policymakers to drive innovation in open cloud, security, and digital sovereignty.
By joining OSBA, Syself aims to:
With OSBA membership, Syself further reinforces its role as a key driver of Kubernetes innovation in Europe, continuing to simplify and improve Kubernetes adoption through automation, lifecycle management, and best practices.
The Open Source Business Alliance (OSBA) is Europe’s leading network promoting the development and adoption of open-source software. OSBA unites companies, public institutions, and developers to collaborate on industry standards, foster digital sovereignty, and drive open cloud innovation.
It manages projects like the Sovereign Cloud Stack (SCS), which aims to build an independent and fully open cloud ecosystem for Europe.
Syself is dedicated to simplifying Kubernetes management through automation, declarative infrastructure, and open-source contributions. As a leader in Kubernetes lifecycle automation, Syself actively develops and maintains Cluster API Provider for Hetzner (CAPH), helping organizations achieve scalable, secure, and production-ready Kubernetes environments.
As an active participant in Sovereign Cloud Stack, Gaia-X, and OSBA, Syself remains committed to building an open, independent, and resilient European cloud infrastructure that supports digital sovereignty and long-term sustainability.
